Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has praised the efforts of the Tourism Department and other stakeholders who have made Meghalaya recognised as the ‘Most Promising New Destination’ at the recent Travel and Tourism Fair in Hyderabad.
“We are working in different ways to improve the overall tourism scenario in the state and this is a recognition of [our efforts] but I think it is just a step forward and there is much more to be done,” Sangma said on the sidelines of another programme.
Thanking the organisers for the award, the CM said that the recognition is a pat on the back and will motivate officials and other stakeholders, such as tour operators, hoteliers and the like.
“This award shows that the efforts of everybody are bearing fruit and we are on course towards making Meghalaya a bigger destination for tourism. We are happy and proud and congratulate all stakeholders involved in this,” he added.
