Shillong, Mar 28: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “decisive leadership” as India navigates the challenges arising from the ongoing tensions in West Asia.
The chief minister’s remarks followed a high-level virtual meeting chaired by the prime minister with chief ministers and lieutenant governors to assess the evolving situation in the region and review the country’s preparedness.
Sangma said he participated in the meeting convened by the Prime Minister to take stock of the fast-changing developments in the region and discuss the country’s preparedness and response.
“Attended the meeting convened by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji regarding the evolving situation in West Asia. Grateful for Hon’ble PM’s decisive leadership during such challenging times. Team India stands united and will continue to work together to navigate the situation,” the chief minister said on X.
During the interaction, Modi underlined that the global scenario linked to the West Asia conflict remains fluid. He also highlighted the importance of coordinated action between the Centre and states, particularly in addressing any potential fallout, including concerns related to the safety and welfare of Indian nationals in the affected region.
The review meeting comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia, which have raised concerns over regional stability, global energy markets, and the security of Indians working abroad.
