Shillong, Dec 15: The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Pynursla civil sub-division has issued an order under Sec 163 of the BNSS banning people from polluting any water bodies within the civil sub-division limits.
The order, dated December 10 but shared with the media only today, stated that water bodies, such as rivers, streams, ponds are being polluted by waste such as dumpling of plastics, construction debris, washing of vehicles along the river, etc.
Specifically, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate said that no one can dump waste – sewage, plastics, chemicals, construction, or other pollutants should go into any water bodies in the civil-subdivision. The public are also not allowed to wash vehicles or clothes in water bodies and that the discharges of industrial or commercial effluents into national water bodies.
