A Catholic church at Daram village in North Garo Hills district was vandalised by unknown miscreants.
The incident reportedly took place in the intervening night of August 25 and August 26.
Miscreants smashed the sculptures including statues of Lord Jesus Christ, Mother Mary and Saint Joseph. The holy crucifix that is located on the upper portion of the church wall above the altar, where the holy Eucharistic is celebrated, reportedly was also attempted to be damaged by the attackers, but they were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged by the church elders with police at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
