To usher in the festive spirit, the Ri-Bhoi Christmas Committee officially kicked off the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the district by unveiling the nativity display yesterday.
Local MLA Mayralborn Syiem was accompanied by church leaders and members of the Ri-Bhoi Christmas Committee for the unveiling.
As part of the joyous occasion, blankets were distributed to underprivileged families.
Syiem said that the essence of Christmas lies in its significance for the less fortunate, emphasising that the celebration is dedicated to the poor and downtrodden, mirroring the altruistic spirit of Jesus Christ.
