The Khasi Jaiñtia Christian Leaders Forum (KJCLF) has appealed to the people of Meghalaya to work together for the promotion of peace and harmony as the state reaches its 50th anniversary.
In a press release signed by its secretary Rev EH Kharkongor, the KJCLF said it “remembers with admiration the aspirations of the previous generations for the attainment of a separate Hill State and with respectful honour and gratitude acknowledges the sacrifice of those leaders and young people in the past for this achievement.”
While much has been achieved, more needs to be done, however. It appealed to the Chief Minister to “strive for good and just governance which will uplift the lives of the poor, the unemployed, those threatened by communal discord in different places and by tension especially in the border areas.”
