Trinamool Congress state president Charles Pyngrope is considering a return to the Congress without conditions even as he stated that he has not given a thought.
Speculations are rife that the lone TMC MLA from Khasi Hills is likely to return to the Congress party since the Nongthymmai TMC block was dissolved.
Pyngrope along with 11 other Congress MLAs left Congress and merged with TMC in 2021.
Stating that Congress is not a sinking ship, Pyngrope said the party needs a good captain who can rudder the ship. He also expressed his willingness to work with Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent Pala.
“I am ready to work with anybody. If I join I will join as a registered member. I have not been contacted officially by anybody, whether it’s Congress or the NPP or the VPP, or the BJP. At the moment I have not given it a thought since I am currently the state TMC president,” Pyngrope said.
Asked if Pala is not fit as a captain, Pyngrope said that he was no one to judge, but there is a procedure within the Congress. He also added that the Congress as grand old party just can’t live with laurels alone. “You have to move with the times. But number one, follow the rules. Once rules are followed, nobody will complain,” he added.
The NPP win in Gambegre by poll also comes with no surprise for Pyngrope who stated that it is always the party which is in the ruling party that has an edge.
