Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rate is not approved by any of the empanelled hospitals in the state, except the central government-run North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
Replying to queries raised by opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) legislator, Adelbert Nongrum during the Question Hour in the assembly she said that the CGHS rate is lower than the rates of the hospital and the disparity is about 70 per cent.
However, Lyngdoh said the government is trying to persuade these empanelled hospitals to approve the rates and the state government has written to the central government to revise the rates.
Stating that there is a disparity in the medical claim recommended by the Director of Health Services in MMA Rules, 2021 against what was earlier provided in MMA rules, 1981. She said the state government is adopting the CGHS rate as recommended by the administrative rules and regulations, revision advisory committee in the amendment process of MMA Rules, 2021 which is being followed by the central government where all the detailed procedure, laboratory investigations and rates are available and listed whereas the state government has limited approved rates till date.
To a question by VPP chief Ardent M Basaiawmoit on how will the government remove the disparity, Lyngdoh said, “I had requested the officials of the health department to immediately get in touch with the government of India and to keep them posted that the Northeast region CGHS rates have not been reviewed for a long period of time.”
