Following massive opposition to the election of Rakesh Sangma as Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma weighed in on the matter today to say that the election was democratic.
The pair are both from the National People’s Party.
Conrad stated that the MDCs decided on their own and that there was no interference from the state government’s end.
According to the CM, the GHADC is facing several troubles at the moment, such as funding, and it would be better for the people and the MDCs to focus on these more important issues and stabilise the council.
