The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the deaths of two Garo youths in Gurugram (Haryana) and New Delhi.
While Rose Sangma reportedly died at the Alfaa Hospital in Sector-10, Gurugram, on June 24 after allegedly consuming ice cream that was fed to her by staff while she was in the ICU, her nephew, Samuel Sangma, later died at a hotel where he was staying, at least according to the official version of events.
Suspecting medical negligence which led to the death of Rose, Samuel had an altercation with doctors and staff of the hospital and the next day, June 25, the Delhi Police received information regarding his death in New Delhi.
The family suspect foul play in the death of Samuel by the hospital personnel.
Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking justice over the mysterious deaths. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, leader of the opposition Dr Mukul Sangma, Tura MP Agatha Sangma and several civil organisations have also demanded a probe into the deaths.
