An engineer of the PWD department from North Garo Hills district was thrashed by locals and NGO members after he was allegedly caught in an uncompromising act with two women.
The incident took place last night. While the engineer was manhandled by those that barged into the house, the women were not spared either with them too being beaten up though they were later saved by more sane members of the same group.
The situation was such that local police needed to intervene into the matter and save the three who came under fire.
Incidentally, this is the alleged second such case of the said engineer, though police later said that a case was likely to be filed by him against those that barged into the room.
Till filing of this report, none of the parties involved had moved the police to register a complaint though the assault of the women is likely to go through the social welfare department of the district.
“The situation came under control quickly after the initial escalation and we are waiting for someone to file a police complaint so that an investigation can take place. The victims of the thrashing however are out of danger,” said the SP.
