The Meghalaya United Christian Forum has urged the State government to repeal the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act.
In an appeal today, the forum said that the plans of the government to open gambling casinos would have negative socio-cultural and economic fallout.
While lauding the decision of the government to temporarily put on hold licensing and approval for operation of the casinos, the forum also urged the government to reconsider its plans to operationalise these gambling sites.
“We believe that any kind of policy without morality will eventually cause destruction to the community and the whole society,” chairman of the forum Rev Batkupar Dunai said.
