The Meghalaya cabinet today decided to reduce the upper age limit for recruitment into four departments where the nature of work requires physical stamina and vigour.
The departments include Police Department, Home Guards and Civil Defence Department, Excise Registration Taxation and Stamps (ERTS) Department, and Forest and Environment Department.
“The minimum age in these cases is between 18-21 years and the upper age limit as decided by the cabinet has been fixed ranging from 27 years in the case of ERTS Department, to 32 years in the case of Home Guards and Civil Defence Department to 30-32 years in the case of Forest and Environment Department and 21 years as minimum age limit to 27 years as upper age limit in the Police Department,” cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh told media persons.
He also said that the State government would soon come up with an advertisement for different posts in these departments within the next two to three weeks.
According to Lyngdoh, there will be about 3,000 plus posts in various categories in the Police Department and about 500 posts in the Home Guards and Civil Defence Department.
