Personnel of the 4th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized 775 bottles of phensedyl cough syrup that was intended to be smuggled over into Bangladesh.
The seizure was made on Thursday along the international border in West Jaiñtia Hills. The consignment of cough syrup is valued at Rs 1.6 lakh.
Phensedyl is a codeine-based cough syrup that is consumed as a substitute for alcohol in Bangladesh.
Since the start of 2022, the BSF Meghalaya has seized more than 5,000 bottles of phensedyl from the Indo-Bangladesh border.
