The Border Security Force (BSF) seized another 47 heads of cattle that were meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
The seizure took place yesterday, a press release by the force today informed.
Smugglers had meant to take them into Bangladesh through West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
The cattle were being brought clandestinely to the border area through forests by miscreants when the BSF intercepted them. The seized cattle were handed over to concerned police outposts for further disposal.
“The BSF is maintaining a high degree of alertness on the international border to maintain national security as well as to prevent all kinds of trans-border crimes and illegal activities,” the statement added.
