Taking the Fit India Movement further, Meghalaya’s contingent of the Border Security Force organised a campaign against drug addiction and alcohol abuse today to raise awareness about the challenges that drug and alcohol pose, especially to the younger generation and society as a whole.
Jawans in uniform with slogans “Drug abuse? No Excuse” and “Say No To Drugs,” marched from Umpling up to Nongmynsong. The aim of the campaign was to inspire and mobilise the young generation and garner support against drug and alcohol abuse.
Deputy Inspector General UK Nayal, by referring to Mahatma Gandhi, said that drug abuse leads to moral deterioration and intellectual downfall. He also appealed to the youth to refrain from taking drugs and psychotropic substances in any form.
