The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya frontier foiled multiple smuggling attempts during a special operation conducted at various places along the Indo-Bangladesh border today as a part of its efforts to sanitise the border.
These operations were carried out in East Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills districts.
The BSF in a statement said during these operations, the troops intercepted and seized a wide range of contraband items, including bikes, sugar, cattle, liquor, cock, oranges, cloth, blankets, garlic, and more. The smugglers have abandoned the items in the jungle area near the border and fled, it added.
The seized contraband items have been handed over to concern police stations for further investigation and necessary action.
