Acting on specific tip-off, troops of the BSF Meghalaya yesterday seized clothing items worth more than Rs 12 lakh from the border area of West Garo Hills.
The consignment was seized by personnel of 100 Battalion BSF when the miscreants were trying to transport the goods over to Bangladesh. On being challenged by the BSF, the smugglers fled from the spot by taking advantage of thick vegetation and undulating terrain, leaving behind their bundles.
The seized items were handed over to Customs officials.
