Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (Eastern Command) Kolkata, Sonali Mishra, reviewed the current security scenario and discussed various operational and administrative aspects of border management while on a visit to Meghalaya.
She was welcomed by BSF Inspector General Pradip Kumar and other senior officers on her two-day visit, which concluded today.
Kumar briefed the ADG about the general security scenario along the Meghalaya-Bangladesh border covering the deployment pattern of BSF battalions and domination plan. The IG also briefed the ADG about the challenges along the Indo-Bangladesh border and measures taken to counter them.
Today, the ADG took stock of the administrative aspects, human resources and also inspected the grievance redressal mechanism. She addressed the officers and jawans during a Sainik Sammelan during which she emphasized on adopting technical solutions for safeguarding the border efficiently.
Later, she also called on Governor Paghu Chauhan at Raj Bhavan and briefed him about the current security scenario on the Meghalaya border.
Mishra also visited the frontier campus and offices and interacted with troops. She also paid a visit to the Composite Hospital to review preparedness and its endeavours to keep the force physically and mentally fit and applauded the efforts and dedication of the BSF personnel in safeguarding the international border in Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, the 100th Battalion of the BSF distributed community welfare items to the people of border villages around Killapara, West Garo Hills.
The BSF distributed furniture, computers, sports items, stationery and white boards for the academic upliftment of school students of remote border schools. Apart from this, fans, water purifiers and water storage tanks were also provided to needy and underprivileged people as part of an effort to ameliorate their quality of life.
