A brother-sister duo, who were on a motorcycle are said to be in critical condition after their bike hit a dumper that was working on the construction of a road under Zikzak C&RD Block in the district of South West Garo Hills district.
The incident took place near the village of Agongittim near Zikzak today at around 3 pm. The two victims were rushed to the Ampati Civil Hospital owing to the nature of their injuries where after they were referred to Tura Civil Hospital for further medical care.
The condition of both the victims is said to be critical.
While details are still unclear on how the incident took place, police sources said that the bike hit the dumper truck that was working by the side of the road leading to the two people on the motorcycle sustaining injuries.
The yet to be identified man, who was driving the bike, was seen in videos after the accident with what looked like a broken leg while his sister lay prostrate on the road nearby.
“The victims have been rushed to Tura and are said to be critical. We are looking into the matter,” superintendent of police Siddharth Ambedkar said.
