A breakdown in the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme in Laitjem village yesterday evening has led to a cutoff in the water supply to the greater Shillong area.
In a press release, the Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department in Mawphlang informed that the breakdown was in the “750mm dia CI Gravity Main”.
The areas affected are those under the Shillong Municipal Board, Shillong Cantonment Board, Nongthymmai and Mawlai.
“Every effort is being made to complete the repair works for restoration of normal water supply by the evening of December 10,” the release added.
