North Shillong legislator Adelbert Nongrum has termed the improvised explosive device (IED) blast last night as an act of cowardice.
Nongrum is the local MLA for the area.
On a visit to the area today, which was largely back to its normal hustle and bustle, Nongrum told reporters, “People behind such kinds of lethal activities should immediately stop and come to the negotiating table. They cannot continue to make innocent civilians scapegoats.”
Terming it as an act of cowardice, he appealed to the police to be alert and not to allow such incidents to keep occurring. The public are already suffering economically because of the two-year-old Covid-19 pandemic and any more disruption to the economy could prove devastating, he added while calling for the arrests of the culprits involved.
“An attack on the general public is highly condemnable and whoever they (the attackers) are, they should come forward for talks,” he said, adding that he will take up the matter with the government.
