The search and rescue team has located and recovered the body of a 14-year old boy drowned at Wahkynshi in South West Khasi Hills today.
The incident occurred at 1:30 pm when Mario Thongni Nongmor was coming back with his father from Nonghyllam for spending his school holidays at in village in Nongmallang on September 29.
Police said while crossing over the river from Nongjri to his village, Mario was washed away by the waters while his father was able to swim himself to safety.
A search was conducted by the Fire and Emergency Service search and rescue team, Mawkyrwat and villagers of Nongmallang, Nontnger and Nongjri.
The body was recovered at around 11:45 am from about 500 meters down river, police added.
