Residents of Block-1 area comprising 36 villages today urged the Meghalaya government to persuade Assam to retransfer the entire Block-1 to Meghalaya.
Addressing media persons here today, the residents said that Psiar-Khanduli area falls under Meghalaya and the boundary talks between the two states has no meaning if the Block-1 falls is not brought under Meghalaya.
“Those saying that some of the villages fall under Karbi Anglong including Labang-Nongphyllut are making false claims because all these areas fall under the ‘Ri Khat-ar Doloi’ and under Jaintia Hills,” they maintained.
“We are law abiding citizens and despite all suppressions we are hopeful that the retransferment of Block-1 will be done legally by the government. Till now there are elderly like us who always wanted peace to prevail but what will happen if one day the young blood can no longer tolerate,” they said.
