Union Minister of State for Social Justice Pratima Bhowmick highlighted some of the central government’s development schemes and programmes initiated during the past nine years.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-dominated National Democratic Alliance government will celebrate nine years in power in a month-long programme from May 30 to June 30.
Bhowmick, the Tripura West MP, addressed a press conference here today. She said that during the past nine years, 3.5 crore homes and 11.72 crore toilets have been constructed for the poor and many developmental activities have been fast-tracked.
Taking a jibe at the opposition Congress Party, from whom the BJP took power in 2014, Bhowmik said that the previous government was a “remote control” one whereas the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she claimed, has eliminated corruption.
Further touting the work of the NDA, she said that Covid-19 vaccines were distributed for free to every individual without discrimination and free rations were distributed to 80 crore people to alleviate suffering brought about by the pandemic. Bhowmick also mentioned free gas and health insurance as being successes of the Modi government.
