Few days after Gambegre MLA, Saleng A. Sangma slammed the State BJP of being selective in raising corruption issues, the saffron party has today hit back at the legislator accusing him of not being clean.
In a statement issued today, BJP vice president Bernard Marak termed Sangma’s comments as a revelation of his ‘standard of ignorance’.
“Since all central schemes are sanctioned by the BJP government at the Centre with certain objectives to the general public, it is the duty of the State BJP to monitor the implementation of the schemes,” Marak said.
“BJP is taking up major issues that have affected the development of the State and growth of the people in general but that does not mean that we are not aware of the smaller irregularities in different constituencies,” he added.
Highlighting the Gambegre MLAs own ‘corruption’, the BJP said that during his tenure as MDC, Saleng took the responsibility to supply computers to the GHADC which was sanctioned in the name of his close aide “but the computers never reached GHADC”.
“As the MLA of Gambegre constituency, he should not forget that the list of beneficiaries who availed the ‘Rs 25 lakhs MLA Relief Scheme’ during lockdown is missing. It will be very interesting to know how Gambegre people were cheated with ghost beneficiaries and how 5 kg of rice issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during lockdown failed to reach the people. Even schemes for the daily wage earners did not reach people in Gambegre constituency,” alleged Marak.
The State BJP added that it had good information on corruption and irregularities which even most MLAs were unaware of but the party was focused on major issues at the moment.
