The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Ri Bhoi today elected Shabor Rande as president of the Umroi mandal (block) committee.
The party also elected Bethelda Teron as the general secretary at a meeting held at Bhoirymbong wherein more than 100 members from other parties joined the BJP.
State president Ernest Mawrie, BJP Assam spokesman Rupam Goswami, Ri Bhoi district president Skhem B Swet and district president of East Khasi Hills Torry Teison Kharsati were present at the meeting.
Mawrie lauded the efforts put in by the district mandal for formation of five mandals in Ri Bhoi. He further urged all members to work for the upcoming Assembly elections.
