Shillong, Sep 16 : UDP chief adviser and former deputy chief minister, Bindo M Lanong has urged the Governor to order
an enquiry into the alleged corruption in the two autonomous district councils.
Welcoming the demand put forth by the BJP and the Congress here, Lanong in a statement on Wednesday said the Governor
can order for a probe at least for terms held by the Congress in both the district councils.
“I request the Governor to hold such enquiry, either under paragraph 14 of the 6th Schedule or under any other administrative practice, which however should cover at least the two previous terms, where the Congress was in power in both the councils and under which regime thousands of Congress workers were appointed in GHADC and several crores of rupees from
central fund was reportedly released for GHADC in 2017 and such legacies are being faced by the present Councils, who have
not even completed 5 years in office and who suffer today when their major resources are seriously affected due to clamp down in mining,” he said.
