Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister M Ampareen Lyngdoh today handed over the award to the best performing trainees who completed the Training of Rural Educated Youth For Self Employment in Farm Based Activities (TREYSEFA)
During her speech, Lyngdoh stressed on the need to strengthen the department and to adopt different policies in order to tackle inflation of vegetables. “We need to see why the vegetables that we produce can’t be made into the locally available products which we can sell and consume in our state itself, she added.
She mooted the need for the youth to venture out into farming as in today’s competitive world not everyone can be promised a government job. She further urged upon the trainees to impart the knowledge they have gained during the training sessions to others.
Lyngdoh and Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Secretary, Isawanda Laloo felicitated and handed over the Seed Money to the second batch female TREYSEFA 2023-2024.
A booklet on Basic Agriculture Training Centre (BATC), Upper Shillong was also released on the occasion.
