Tura MDC and state vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bernard N Marak, has visited Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects that have been officially labeled as complete even though residents assert that they are anything but.
Marak said that all completed projects should have satisfied beneficiaries for availing “Har Ghar Jal” (Water in Every House).
“If families don’t receive water legal steps will be taken against the contractors, engineers and all the names published on the completion hoardings,” Marak said. “The BJP will not compromise on incomplete projects and will not let the culprits get away if the mission to provide drinkable running water to every family fails.”
He further said that a report will be sent to the central government too and a high-level inquiry will also be sought.
Marak said that all villages that do not have drinkable running water even after JJM completion hoardings are erected can lodge their complaint with photographs of hoardings and the tabs, pipes, tanks, etc on arigri.com.
He said that the Arigri team will also start functioning in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills districts in the second week of July.
