Tura MDC Bernard Marak of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) went on the offensive against the state government once again today, informing that more RTIs have been filed into the implementation of several central government schemes.
Marak said that during a meeting today, they had discussed zero balance bank accounts where women are supposed to get Rs 500 but are actually not getting anything. “We are doing whatever we can at our level concerning the irregularities or corruption taking place in the state,” Marak said.
He added that even the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will have a big impact because the Governor will take a decision if the district council does not reply.
The CAG had complained that all the district councils in the state were behind in the submission of their financial reports.
“This has put them in a position that they have to reply. If they don’t respond, hopefully the Governor can even order a CBI inquiry because these are all central funds (that the GHADC receives),” the MDC said.
Asked if the Trinamool Congress is a good option for the people and if they are competition for the BJP, Marak welcomed the competition and said that the 2023 state elections will be very interesting as they will raise genuine issues that are beneficial for people in general.
Concerning his ticket for the 2023 elections, Marak said that the central party leaders will decide if he is fit to contest against the Chief Minister from South Tura.
