The public have been warned to be extra cautious around tall buildings and towers during the ongoing period of inclement weather brought on by Cyclone Remal.
SC Sadhu, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, said in a notice today that, in view of the strong winds and heavy rainfall in Meghalaya, people are advised to stay away from tall structures and towers as they may collapse.
“People residing near the tall towers are to be extra cautious during rainfall and strong winds. They are to keep necessary documents ready in case of evacuation,” Sadhu said.
