The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) in collaboration with the Tourism Department, has launched a comprehensive skill training programme on Basic Cooking Skills aimed at tourism stakeholders in the South West Garo Hills district. Partnering with Arrosa’s Kitchen, this training is being conducted in Ampati starting from today.
This initiative is part of a broader project designed to build capacity and enhance the skills of individuals involved in the tourism sector.
A total of 20 trainees from various homestays, restaurants, and fast-food establishments have enrolled in the first batch of this training programme. The course spans 20 hours and is tailored to equip participants with fundamental culinary skills.
The training aims to strengthen the culinary skills of tourism stakeholders across the district, empowering local communities to actively participate in and benefit from tourism development. The programme provides stakeholders with the necessary skills to perform their tasks more efficiently and effectively, thereby improving operational efficiency.
Through this training, participants will be able to improve the overall quality of service they provide to tourists. This enhancement in service quality is expected to lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.
This skill training initiative is anticipated to significantly enhance the tourism experience in South West Garo Hills, benefiting both tourists and the local community.
By fostering tourism-related employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, this training programme not only contributes to the economic development of local communities but also supports the sustainable growth of the tourism sector in the region.
