The Meghalaya government has decided to allow pubs and bars to start serving alcohol from October 26 onwards, with standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be notified accordingly, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said today.
In a review meeting, the government also decided to restart cross border trade through weekly markets along the inter-state borders with Assam to the north and Bangladesh to the south. Orders will be given to the Deputy Commissioners of the appropriate districts to work out the details and SOPs before settling on a date to reopen.
