The Barato unit of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) yesterday met the doctor in charge of Barato Primary Health Centre (PHC) after receiving complaints of rude behavior by the doctor towards patients and the public seeking medical attention.
The KSU also found many drawbacks in the PHC, from roads to water supply, rooms as well as being understaffed.
The pressure group asked that the doctor and patients should all practise good behaviour towards each other. The KSU further urged the Health Department to upgrade the PHC to a Community Health Centre (CHC) because the PHC can no longer cater to the needs of the public based on the size of the population.
