Shillong, Mar 9: District Sports Officer of Nongstoiñ, Balarina Syiem and Rifiness Warjri, the youngest woman from Meghalaya who summited Mount Everest were bestowed with the ‘Women Icon Award’.
A function to celebrate International Women’s Day was organised by the Meghandini Mahila Samiti in association with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and Directorate of Art & Culture and Yes Meghalaya.
Meghalaya State Women’s Commission chairperson Iamon Syiem attended the felicitation programme as the chief gues.
Cultural activities and indoor sports were held too marked the occasion.
