MDC from Rambrai-Jyrngam, Bajop Pyngrope has said that 50 per cent of his supporters have approved that he quit the Congress.
Pyngrope, who is yet to leave the Congress, had earlier seemed to be throwing in his lot with the Trinamool Congress. Following his appointment as the secretary of the Congress in-charge of West Khasi Hills he had also announced that he would contest the Mawthadraishan seat in 2023.
However, today he said he was certain that the Congress will deny him the party ticket.
“Most of my supporters from my constituency want me to quit the Congress and join any other political party except the BJP,” he told Highland Post.
Certain that this time he was ready to leave the grand old party, the first time MDC said he will join the party which his supporters choose.
“I am still very young and I will give myself more time and may not even contest the 2023 election but work to strengthen the party that I will be joining,” he added.
When asked if he will support the NPP like the rest of his colleagues, he showered praises about Chief Minister Conrad Sangma as “one of the greatest CM in the state and for not having a vindictive mindset.”
