Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today laid the foundation for the construction of the new building of the Bajengdoba block in the presence of Deputy Speaker Timothy Shira, Bajengdoba MLA Pongseng Marak, Kharkutta MLA Rupert Momin and other MDCs and ex-MDCs at Bajengdoba, North Garo Hills.
Speaking on the occasion, Sangma said that the new building is testament to his government’s desire to bring the administration closer to the people. The government has sanctioned nearly Rs 121 crore for the construction of new buildings and infrastructure across Meghalaya’s 46 blocks, he added.
The CM also expressed his optimism that the new building, once completed, will provide a better working environment for the officers and will aid in facilitation of welfare services for the people of Bajengdoba area.
He also informed the gathering that the upgrade of the Bajengdoba Primary Health Centre to Community Health Centre, a long-awaited demand, will soon be taken up.
Earlier, Sangma also inspected the ongoing construction of a public road and Hamilton Sangma Stadium at Bakenang Nalsa locality of Bajengdoba.
