The Jaiñtia Rural Tourism Society will hold the Southern Slopes Music Concert 2022 on December 10 featuring international American band Big Mountain, who are famous for their 1994 cover of the song “Baby, I Love Your Way’.
The concert will be held at Loomkyntoor Resort in Skhen Pyrsit village, 16km from Jowai.
DJ Earl Gateshead from the UK and local bands Dew Drops, Rum and Monkeys, Seis Euphony, Imprints and Nexus are also scheduled to perform.
Addressing reporters, president of the JRTS, Teibor L Hing, said that tickets will be sold at Rs 500.
“We want to promote tourism in the Jaiñtia Hills region, which has many tourist hot spots like the Phe Phe falls, Thlu Muwi, besides others,” he said while encouraging people to promote tourism in Jaiñtia Hills as an alternative to nature-destroying coal mining.
Hing also said that tourism can also generate employment opportunities for the general public and whatever profits are made from the concert will be used to run training programmes and conduct workshops for the youth.
