Shillong, Feb 3: An awareness programme was held at Bharalgaon village under Selsella C & RD Block as part of the 100-Day District-wise Action Plan for the Prevention of Child Marriages in Meghalaya.
Organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, the programme aimed to sensitise citizens on the legal, social, and health implications of child marriage. Officials highlighted the long-term consequences of early marriage, particularly on girls, and informed the public about available legal aid services and reporting mechanisms.
The programme forms part of a district-wide and state-level effort to strengthen grassroots awareness and prevent child marriages in Meghalaya, aligning with the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Campaign.
