Shillong, Dec 13: Ha Lyngkha Bneng – The Elysian Field, the latest film by award-winning director Pradip Kurbah, was screened at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.
The event was organized by the Department of Mass Media in collaboration with Kurbah Films, Hello Meghalaya, and Ka Knup Creatives.
Director Pradip Kurbah shared his thoughts on audience engagement, saying, “Every person has their own way of looking at the film. They have their own perspective. And I think it’s a great thing for me as a filmmaker. So, it’s a great learning experience.”
He expressed gratitude for the audience’s response, adding, “I am very happy. And I was surprised, in places where I thought people would never laugh, they were laughing out here. The message is, whenever the film gets released, I just want them to come and watch the film. I know the audience is very smart, with the coming of OTT platforms, I hope they will accept this film.”
The film explores the journey of six individuals living in the quiet countryside, delving into their longings, bonds, and shifting relationships. Advisor to the Social Welfare Department, Paul Lyngdoh, praised the film, stating it captures the essence of angst in contemporary Meghalaya.
Renowned actor Melvin Mukhim, who stars in the film, described it as “a reflection of identity, belonging, and the unseen worlds that shape our understanding of life, rooted in Khasi imagination and philosophy.” The audience applauded the film’s originality, exploration of isolation, fear, and death, and moments of humour.
