Tura’s College of Community Science, under the Central Agricultural University (CAU) of Imphal, will send one faculty member, Pavana Kumar ST, for a 70-day training programme in Thailand.
The Assistant Professor in statistics will be at the Prince of Songkhla University for the training, which begins tomorrow.
The programme is sponsored by the Institutional Development Plan-National Agricultural Higher Education Project (IDP-NAHEP), funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) New Delhi through the World Bank.
In a flag-off programme hosted by the college, Kumar expressed his gratitude to the college and university officials for providing this unique opportunity to its faculty. Dean and Nodal Officer, Jyoti V Vastrad, expounded on the significance of such training and exposure and wished Kumar the best for his upcoming training.
The assistant professor will undergo advanced training on ‘Geospatial Analysis Using Machine Learning Models or Machine Techniques, or Advances in Statistical Modelling Application (climate change)’ under the supervision of Associate Professor Sutinee Sinutok at the Coastal Oceanography and Climate Change Research Centre, Faculty of Environmental Management, Prince of Songkhla University, Hat Yai campus.
