The Assembly passed the deficit budget of Rs 1,570 crore for the 2021-22 financial year today, the final day of the budget session.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who also holds the finance portfolio, moved the Meghalaya Appropriation (No. III) Bill 2021, to authorise payment and appropriation of certain sums from the consolidated fund of Meghalaya for the upcoming financial year.
According to the bill, Rs 176 crore will be withdrawn from the consolidated fund and go towards defraying several charges.
On the final day of the session, the Assembly also passed several bills, including the Regulation of Gaming Bill, the Local Fund (Audit) Bill, the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University (Amendment) Bill, the Meghalaya (Sales of Petroleum and Petroleum Products including Motor Spirit) Taxation (Amendment) Bill, the Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill and the Municipal (Amendment) Bill.
