Shillong, Nov 26: The Estimates Committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly monitored the progress of major government projects across West Khasi Hills district.
The committee visited the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Hospital in Nongstoiñ and the Riangdo Small Hydro Project
Committee Chairman Mayralborn Syiem noted that MCH projects in various parts of the state are facing delays due to multiple factors. He said the inspection was undertaken following concerns raised by local residents and legislators.
He expressed hope that the Riangdo Small Hydel Project will be commissioned by 2027, noting that such infrastructure assets are crucial investments made for the welfare and development of the state.
“We are all accountable to the people of Meghalaya—legislators, the Estimates Committee and officials alike. In a vibrant democracy, duties must be carried out sincerely and responsibly,” Syiem said.
