Shillong, Dec 14: The fifth edition of the Assam Rifles Half Marathon 2025 was organised today morning in Laitkor here.
This year’s event witnessed participation from across India, with over 3,000 participants representing 26 states and two Union territories across various age categories.
The event was conducted against the scenic and majestic backdrop of the hills around the Assam Rifles headquarters in Laitkor.
Apart from the 21km half marathon, there were also 10km and 5km races.
There were 559 runners in the 21km half marathon, 1,502 in the 10km race and 977 in the 5km event. Participants were awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their efforts along with commemorative t-shirts as souvenirs. Cash prizes worth Rs 20 lakh were awarded to 48 runners across various categories. In addition, several consolation prizes were also distributed.
In the overall category, Sandeep Devrari of 20 Kumaon, Indian Army emerged as the winner in the 21km men’s race with a time of 1 hour 7 minutes while Tamsi Singh from Varanasi won the women’s category in 1 hour 23 minutes.
