Shillong, Feb 17: The fourth edition of the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup 2026 football tournament began today with victory for the organisers’ own team in the women’s category.
Assam Rifles comfortably defeated Laitkor SC 5-0 at the SSA Stadium in Polo.
The tournament, which was formally inaugurated by Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla, will conclude on February 27.
The league matches up to the semifinal stage will be played at Nongkrem Football Ground and Assam Rifles Laitkor Ground, while the finals of both the men’s and women’s categories will be held at the SSA Stadium.
The champions in the Men’s and Women’s categories will be awarded a cash prize of ₹3 lakh each along with the prestigious Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup Trophy, while the runners-up will receive ₹2 lakh each.
