Shillong, Oct 1: The East Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has informed that all arms licensee within the district who are in possession of old license without a valid Unique Identification Number (UIN) are to appear before the office for re-applying of fresh license with valid UIN as per Rule 15 of Arms Rules 2016.
Moreover, all arms licences holders whose licenses were issued or renewed prior to December 31, 2017 are to produce their licence in the office of the District Magistrate within October 31, 2025.
Those who are in possession of more than two firearms are to surrender their additional firearms as per Section 3(2) of Arms Act, 1959 (amended in 2019).
