Shillong, Apr 6: The AAA Conclave 2026, hosted by the Association of Architects Assam was held in Shillong aimed at fostering innovation in architecture.
The event highlighted the importance of breathable design and material innovation, with speakers like Zydex Paints, Pankaj Phukan, and Techi Gubin leading the charge toward a more sustainable future.
Representing Zydex Paints, COO Amrendra Mishra said, “The future of construction is not about sealing buildings tighter; it is about enabling them to breathe.” He reflected the urgent need for breathable surfaces that address trapped moisture, a common problem in humid climates like Northeast.
Pankaj Phukan, the conclave’s convenor, framed sustainability as a fundamental responsibility. He called for climate-aligned solutions in a region susceptible to moisture damage, where conventional acrylic paints can contribute to deterioration.
Padma Shri awardee Techi Gubin, who was also the former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Architect, emphasised the necessity of balancing design ambitions with ecological responsibility, insisting that materials must harmonise with local environments.
Organisers said the discourse surrounding breathable design was not merely theoretical; it ignited a movement. The integration of innovation, responsibility, and harmony is crucial for the future of architecture, ensuring that buildings can endure both time and climate challenges while serving the needs of their inhabitants.
