An archery tournament for women was recently held at the Rymbai Wahshnong playground, East Jaintia Hills District.
The event aims to create a conducive sports atmosphere in the district and to promote greater sports participation and inclusivity among women.
The tournament was organised by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with the office of the District Sports Officer and Rymbai Government Higher Secondary School Khelo India Centre on March 8.
In the senior individual category, Isabella Tlang won the first prize followed by Gratify Nongpluh and Aibanhun Lyngdoh in the second and third prizes respectively.
In the junior individual category, Jasmine Nongpluh secured the first prize, Ebanroiki Bareh bagged the second prize and Fatima Lyngdoh the third prize.
In the sub-junior individual category, Philawanshwa Thoo, Tredaka Nongtdu and Victoria Rymbai won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Cash awards were given to the winners and runners up with first prize winners being given a cash award of Rs. 1500, second prize Rs. 1000 and third prize Rs. 500.
The event was attended by District Sports Officer (DSO) Stephanie M. Rapsang in the presence of Principal, Rymbai Government Higher Secondary School, Younilas Lamare, Finance Secretary Rymbai Village C. F Bareh, General Secretary of East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association (EJDSA) Coming Tlang and several others.
