Primary school teachers will pay tribute to Thomas Jones, ‘Founding Father of Khasi Alphabet’ to celebrate 180 years of primary schools in the State.
The All Primary School Teachers Association in a press release today informed that the even to mark the 173 death anniversary of the missionary will be held at Madan Tirot Sing in Mairang on September 16.
Shillong MP Vincent Pala and Syiem of Hima Khatsawphra P. Syiemlieh will attend the programme.
The teachers said contributions will be handed over to the Christmas Makeover 2022, Holy Cross Hospital and Synod School Vidhya Jyoti at the programme as well as handing over of the welfare scheme to retired teachers.
Former leaders of the association, S. Nongrang and JJ Lyngdoh will also be felicitated at the programme.
